The storm that has come pounding up the east coast has reached us. Some parts of Maine are getting up to 10 more inches of snow! But, here on the coast at least, it is rain - torrential rain, and high winds, flooding and power outages. The ocean is roaring, and I'm anxious to go up to
Schoodic Point and get some pictures of it in all of its awesome glory - but...I think I'll probably stay home and knit today instead! Maybe tomorrow I'll have some pictures to share. It's a holiday here -
Patriots' Day (celebrated in Maine and MA) and the beginning of my spring break (not looking much like spring!). I'm working on a project for my
Whoduknit Spring Mystery Swap Pal. It's a fun swap, where pals exchange a skein of yarn, and then knit something with it, and send it back along with a book. I can't tell you what I'm knitting, since it's not a secret swap and she reads my blog - but here is a peek:

I went to Schoodic Point a couple years ago. It was beautiful! We go to Maine every October for a few days and were staying in Bar Harbor. Took a side trip to Schoodic Point. Luckily it was sunny that week. No messy rain.
How about those Red Sox!! We were actually in Bar Harbor the night the Red Sox beat the Yankees for the AL title in 2004 - you could hear people all around town yelling and cheering - it was fantastic. I still get goosebumps thinking about it!! All the way back to CT the next day there were signs along the road congratulating the Sox.
October is a beautiful time of year to go to Bar Harbor. I live across the bay - 20 minutes by boat, and hour by car, from Bar Harbor.
And yes...that was a day to remember! After coming back from three losses to beat the Yankees for the AL title, sweeping the World Series was just the icing on the cake!
We ate at Mama's Boy Bistro(?)on our way back to Bar Harbor from Schoodic Point. I think it was fairly new at the time. On the Schoodic Point side of the harbor. Good food, pleasant staff. Even bought yarn both years at a small shop in Bar Harbor.
Long story behind Mama's Boy. It's still there, but didn't open last year. Next time you go to Schoodic try Chase's Restaurant for some 'local color' or The Fishermen's Inn (across from Mama's Boy. There is a great yarn shop in Hancock - only about 5 minutes from Ellsworth on Rt.One called Shirley's yarns and crafts. Have you stopped there? Great selection of yarns!
