Sloooow Dial-up

Am I the last person on earth to still have a slow dial-up connection? We cannot get cable, and DSL keeps promising it will be here soon, but so far we can't get that either. I found some beautiful Entrelac felted bag patterns available for purchase by download. I ordered the pattern, and it took....3 1/2 hours to download!
It is 18 pages - but 3 1/2 hours! There is also a beautiful Trellis Tote pattern that isn't available for download yet, but that I just have to have, so I guess I'll be another 3 1/2 hours downloading it when it becomes available.
I've been playing with the random stripe generator that I found while I was "ring surfing" today. Cristi's pattern for theIt Felt Random Bag is really fun. And...it didn't take 3 1/2 hours to download! I chose Peacock, Old Gold, Burgundy, and Pink Patons wool, and a 2,4,6,8,10, 100 row pattern for my bag, and finally decided on a sequence that I liked. I cast on for it tonight - can't wait to see how it comes out.

You should be able to ask for a print out that they would be happy to send by regular mail. I would think all you need to say is "dial up...3 1/2 hour download" and they could come up with alternate plan. Especially for a repeat customer!

I know how you feel! We finally got dsl. What a difference. Some of our family members live out in the boonies where there is only dial up, and they are so jealous. Hope it comes to you soon!

Hi! It's me, Diane in Chicago. Sorry about your gruesome download experience. But I have a cunning plan! Email me through my site and I'll tell you the details. And if that fails, envelopes and stamps work, too.

I don't want anyone to wait 3.5 hours for anything!
